Incoming 6th Grade Families

Welcome Future Mustangs!

We are excited to welcome our incoming 6th grade students and families to the Mustang community! Middle school is an important and exciting time for students, and we understand transitioning from elementary to middle school can be a little scary, but we're here to help!

Over the next several weeks, students will participate in a variety of activities and events designed to support a smooth transition to middle school. These experiences will help students become familiar with the school, build connections with peers and staff, and feel confident as they begin their journey as Mustangs.

MBMS Counselors are looking forward to partnering with our families to support your student’s academic, social/emotional, and career growth. We are committed to creating a welcoming, supportive environment where every Mustang can learn, grow, and succeed!

Please feel free to contact your student's counselor if you have any questions. Welcome to the Mustang community!

Incoming 6th Grade Course Registration

The course request window is open from March 2nd-March 15th. All incoming MBMS students need to submit their course request during this time period. Counselors will place students in electives with open seats if students do not submit their course request.

Students must search and register for courses using the six-digit course number, not the course title. Course numbers are listed in the MBMS course catalog.

Please refer to the resources below if you need assistance with submitting your course request:

Elementary Feeder School Visits

MBMS Counselors will visit elementary feeder schools the week of February 23rd to meet with our incoming 6th graders to discuss classes and the course selection process.

5th Grade Parent Night

5th Grade Parent Night is designed to support parents/guardians of incoming 6th grade students as they prepare for the transition to middle school. This event will provide helpful information about academic expectations, student support services, and ways families can help their students feel confident and successful as they begin this exciting next step. The more you and your child know about Middle School, the more positive your experience will be at Meadowbrook!

A separate orientation for your child from a student perspective will be held in August.
